Soft pastels have proved to be a very fluent medium for Victoria Tayor-Gore. The technique is subordinate to the content, so she can get an idea and follow through with it. Victoria's work depicts simplified architectural and landscape forms in a distorted perspective and seamlessly blends the pastels in smooth color transitions.
Victoria received a BFA in 1983 from West Texas A & M University, and then in 1985 attended the University of California, Santa Barbara for her MFA. She has exhibited work professionally for the past 20 years ...primarily in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico, but also in New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, and recently in China.
Victoria currently teaches both traditional and online classes in drawing, painting, art history and art appreciation at Amarillo College in Texas.
ist Victoria Taylor-Gore describes her life as a continual journey, a twisting sojourn through ever expanding yet balanced cycles. "There's not really such a thing as coming to a point in your life where you're perfectly centered, because there will always be opposites or extremes. I like the viewer to travel through my paintings and see just a little bit more each time they look at one."
